Report Details:
There was a craft north of Ames, Iowa, visible over campus buildings around 3:45pm on Monday 1/13/14. Craft was seen over buildings to the north while walking from Parks Library to College of Design parking lot. The object was abnormal because it was hovering in the sky and didn't look like a conventional aircraft through its shape (cigar or disk) or motion (still or mostly stationary). I looked up toward the north several times over the course of a couple of minutes (5 or so minutes) and the craft seemed as though it was in the same position during multiple sightings of about 5-15 seconds each. Before reaching a clearing as I approached the College of Design from the east (on the east side of that building heading west toward the parking lot), the object disappeared out of nowhere. I couldn't find the object after heading west and getting a better view of the horizons (away from buildings)...it disappeared out of nowhere in a very brief period of time as I tried to not let the craft lose my sight.
