orange ball, same color as a street light

A light low in the east north east sky, same size and color as a street light , observed it and thought it may be a plane with odd landing lights. As it came nearer to my location, it moved slowly, and started to decrease in size and rise . By the time it was over my location , it had risen to quite a height , and almost no light emitting, new it was not a plane , there were no red , green or white strobes. As it continued to the west south west, it gained height and speed and that when I really knew it was not a plane. I folloed it as long as I could because there was no light , it was hard to see but the speed was incredible.
