Event Date: 01/02/2014  Event Time: 19:00  Submitted: 01/03/2014

Craft Shape: Unknown   Number of objects: 1

Additional Details: Conventional aircrafts were present
Report Details:
The object was a single bright dot in the sky that appeared to be a simple satellite or meteor but had such a steep angle of descent and never "winked out" like I am used to seeing a meteor do when it burns up. I watched it pass behind an airplane that was most likely on approach to Albuquerque International Airport or the Air Force Base. It appeared to be many miles from the city to the East and I lost sight of the object when it passed behind the Sandia Mountain range. I did not observe any changes in course or speed, it gave off a "white" light that appeared identical to a meteor but never burnt up or exploded from my perspective. It was most likely a meteor or other space debris but must have been huge for it to burn as long as it did. I did not think to count but in my experience "shooting stars" last barely a second or two, I estimate the time I viewed the object around 10 seconds before it passed behind the mountains. I assume that, if it was not picked up by Albuquerque International's radar, it must have been picked up by The Air Force base. The angle it came in at was very steep and it would seem that it was in free fall and most certainly crashed some where east of the Sandia Mountains.
