Bright Orange/yellow sphere in irthlingborough

Looked out of my window towards stanwick lakes as i always do because i love the view at night, and was a bit shocked to see a huge glowing orange and yellow pulsing sphere approx 2000 ft from the ground and approx 5 miles away. I Watched the object for a few minutes to figure out if it was a commercial jet heading in my direction with it's landing lights on, but was shocked when i worked out that it wasn't.
I called my wife out to witness what i was seeing and she was just as baffled as me! We both went through a list of possibilities of what it could be, but another 5 minutes went by and it was still just hovering in the same place. We were so shocked and so curious of what it was, that we didn't even think to find our camera. We watched it for a while longer before it Rapidly shot off towards the south west in the matter of seconds and was no longer visible. The night was very clear and Normal commercial jets were visible but Were less than half the size of this object. No aircraft that i know of could reach that kind of speed, especially from Zero. We will be looking more towards the sky from now on and make sure our camera is in reach.
