UFO flickery flame looking over Stanford le hope

I was coming down Morley hill in the direction of Southend road and I saw a flickering flame looking object in the sky over the rooftops of the houses in the distance. I've never seen anything like that before so it caught my attention. As I drove along Southend road I looked right down a turning and it was still there in the same position. I carried on past Gable hall school and it was still there, hadn't moved in height. By the dance studio I showed my daughter who was a passenger and she saw it too. We turned right at a roundabout so should've had a better view of it but it had vanished completely. It wasn't a lantern as I've seen them burn and travel in the breeze, which there is a strong breeze tonight. This was static. Wasn't that high as it was just visible over the distant rooftops. It was roundish in shape too.
