triangular shav v seen in skies in mid-city new or

I went to the back of my house and saw several illuminated objects flying southeast. it looked like a v with a curved point. some of the dots were changing in formation. they were obviously lower then the stars but looked to be the same size and same luminescence. the color of the lights were all the same similar to the color of the stars but a bit more orange. the dots speeds were stead in one direction but when they were changing in formation happened much quicker. I really don't know what I saw but It was nothing like I have ever seen. I looked up if bird migrated at night in similar formation but did not find anything. I did not hear any noises and there seemed to be know trail of exhaust or anything like what I might expect an aircraft to be. I am truly stunned.
