Black tall circular UFO in the shape of a bell

I was outside doing some observing when I spotted a tall black circular object in the sky. I looked at it using my binoculars as I am an astronomer and the craft appeared to have the shape of a bell and also had some strange symbols on the lower part of the craft. due to the darkness I didn't have colour vision although the center part of the craft appeared to have a different colour to it. The object also appeared to have lights towards its top.
