basketball size round bright bright beam of light

a basketball size beam of the brightest brightest pure white light beamed down next to me as i sat on my sofa repairing a computer. my uncle was also fixing a mac computer and saw it too as he sat on the floor. the beam of light was so fast as it beamed down for 1 second. i looked at the beam, then i looked at my uncle. i asked him, did you see that, and he said yes. i then asked him "what did you see" and he said, a bright round light.. so i know i was not the only one who saw it. seconds later, a mormon knoked on my door and i let him in..then he sat on the very spot the beam was. i thought it was strange that he sat in the same spot. but the beam of light came from the ceiling straight down on the sofa next to me. all windows shade were pulled down, cause i said to myself, maybe it was a reflection from outside, but the shades were down. so i have no explination on the brightest brightest beam of light. all i know is that my uncle saw it too, and we were both scared and confused.
