i watched a star fly away last night

the strangest thing, above a neighbor's house there was a star, it looked like all of the other stars in the sky. it moved left the equivalent of a few inches (east) and then it curved toward south, kept going that way-and winked out after about five to eight seconds. that was the first time that I have seen a star fly away like that. Not a 747, those travel slowly and in a straight line, also have blinking lights, it was not a jet. it takes a commercial flight minutes to completely span the horizon, this 'star' disappeared in under ten seconds. it left me with the happy sensation, that I had just seen a 'star fly away'.
