Oblong cigar shaped object emitting very bright .

Whilst playing golf at willow valley golf couse this morning, at approx 8.40, facing east toward Castleford area, a bright cigar shape was in the sky. It's difficult to say how far away but I estimate 10 miles, and the height of an aeroplane. It didn't move for at least 5 mins. The sun was behind the object so it's brightness could not have been reflective. The brightness diminished and faded to nothing . 10 mins later, a military helicopter was seen to be flying over the area for 1 hour ish.
