Bright light like a orange/yellow flare

In South Sky at approximately 12:15 AM, there was a bright object like a flare that just appeared, moved slowly sideways in straight line across sky (from West to East). Was yellowish/orange in colour which didn't change. Was very bright and high in sky. Wasn't a flare because didn't fly up and fall. Lasted about 30 seconds as moved slowly across sky then just faded away in 1 second. No tailing or smoke around it...just object. Was overcast so was below clouds. No sound at all. Was not a plane as it didn't continue to move across sky to a destination and didn't have blinking lights like a plane. Was a large circle like the size of a flare or Jupiter at it's brightest. Only saw it for about 30 seconds and it didn't appear again for at least the next 5 minutes I continued to watch. I was outside with my dog at the time.
