Approx. 8:00 pm (+/- 10 mins) seen from the top of the driveway (street end) at 379 Hemlock ave on Gabriola Island, looking east along hemlock at about 10:30 or 11:00 declination) (9:00 being straight in front, 12:00 being straight up) (sorry about the odd way of describing; I'm, new to this).
My wife and I had seen a similar object to what i was about to see, several months ago (~may or June of 2013). Similar at least in regards to general appearance., perhaps altitude, as well.). What we had seen before was a l"thing" at least at quite high alti., if not astronomical. It flashed different colors, quite clearly, over a prolonged period (several seconds on a color...) My previous viewing, I sort of talked myself into thinking it was atmospherically induced twinkling...maybe it was Venus.. (you know... just pooh poohing it..)
At any rate, I had started to cook Dinner, and my wife Ranza was taking our dog Seeker for a walk. She left, and came back in just a couple of minutes and said excitedly: "Remember that UFO we saw?Well its up there now, moving like crazy! (She described an up and down motion with her hand) . I didn't rush up, but after a few minutes, when i got dinner in the oven, I went up to have a look. It didn't take me long to get shivers up and down my spine! As I crested the driveway, i looked to the east (as Ranz had described) and saw a flashing light, described as above. It was moving quite quickly from the treeline on the left side of the street (looking east) towards the center of the street. (At about 10:30 inclination/declination, as described above) At first I thought it was a jet (I didnt think it was what Ranza had described, because when she had seen it, it was moving up and down. It seemed to high to be a jet though, I thought. I realized it wasn't normal air traffic when it seemed to stop, and then move backwards to the direction it had come from. I did get a certain excitement, as i ran through possibilities explaining what I just saw and i was kind of coming up empty, in terms of mundane/rational explanations. As i watched it, it moved back to the extreme limits of my view on the left (not obscured by trees lining the street) and paused there for a few moments, all the time flashing different colors (red yellow white blue, maybe, although, i might not be willing to swear to which colors i saw....was kinda stocked...:) You know what I mean, don't you?) Next i ran back to my house, and called a few friends, to try and get corroboration (for what, i dont know!) by getting them to see it too. They couldn't find it in their view of the sky. I went back up after about five minutes in my house, and when i looked again, it was still there, but this time, it seemed like there were two other smaller and dimmer (or more distant) groups of lights that seemed to be following the motions of the first identified (un) object, but not exactly, somewhat loosely, and not seeming to pursue the first, just loosely mirror its motions. I went back down, and then when my wife came back from her walk (~8:30) we went up to the top of the drive together, and she also witnessed the other fainter lights, moving in concert, with the first item.
This sighting was to me, the first that my mind couldn't apply a debunking theory to. I try to be critical, I could think of no mundane explanation for what I saw.
What made this particularly interesting is that my neighbor Dale who had been over for coffee the previous evening had mentioned (and I was cynical; Dale's understanding of the universe includes things that I haven't fully accepted as reality). He had mentioned that "the aliens" had dropped a deer head on his property. He described a rather grisly mutilation, and although i didnt see it that day, i saw it the day after I saw the UFO (24 November) and it was GRISLY. I will be uploading photos here, but not for the faint of heart!. The skin had been cut from just behin the nostrils to the back of the head, the skin had been bulled off, and some type of very sharp cutting instrument had been used to section the skull .
