Strange lights over Melbourne, Australia

Last night, strange lights in the sky caught my attention. At first I thought it was a plane until after a few minutes of observing it, I realised it wasn't moving. I came inside to get my telescope and was blown away by what I saw. Naturally I then grabbed my camera and started snapping photo's of it. Not knowing how to use my camera correctly, I couldn't set the shutter speed. The photo's look like a black screen until I zoomed in. It shows the lights changing colour, and the object changing shape.
