Bright Green orb shaped object in Bay Area sky

I was driving to work at about 5:45 am it was still dark outside when a bright green light in the sky caught my attention. The object hovered about four or five seconds at several hundred feet high and was very bright green. I couldn't figure out what it was but it wasn't an airplane or drone or a meteor . After a few seconds it shot straight up in the sky at a rate of speed I've never witnessed . I don't know what it was but I know it wasn't a shooting star because it hovered in the sky. It wasn't a meteor because it flew directly upwards and disappeared .
