Bright red glow moved left and right several times

Standing in the rear garden and below what I think was the north star was a red glow. To start with it was stationary and then was seen moving first left then right.but always returning to the position under the north star. This it did several times and then stayed stopped long enough in 1 place to be able to photograph it. Several minutes later it shot off at high speed in an easterly direction. Have there been any other reports of this red glow? It was definitely not an aircraft as it moved far too fast
