orange, then would be a fuzzy orange

My wife and I were on the balcony of the apartment looking to the west when we seen this object. It wasn't moving at all. Bright orange in color then would become fuzzy almost red. It stayed at the same position which was at my two o'clock in the NNW sky. It stayed there for a few minutes, I didn't time it. I came inside to get the binoculars stepped back outside and it was gone. Very visible to the eye..
