Spherical object apparently burning.

We were driving north on Main Street and saw a fireball- or what appeared to be an object on fire moving due east toward our house. I ran in and got my camera and tried to find the movie setting but it was very dark and I could not, so I took 2 pictures -- one with a flash. The object seemed to be about the distance from me that an airplane would be, and it moved at about the same rate of speed. It made a sharp turn northward and disappeared from view. It's size seemed to diminish more rapidly as it moved away to the north. The wind was blowing southward and was not blowing much or hard. There was no noise.
