boomerang shaped objects hang in New England sky

Calling the dog in for the night I saw two large object in my sight line. I believe there were two separate objects...the one on top had 3 to 4 very bright white lights the one below looked the same except there were red and blue pulsating lights coming out of the bottom. The lights were so bright that they were hard to look at. The colored lights pulsed in a starburst pattern. After watching for about 2 minutes there was rumbling and it got louder to sound like a garbage truck and both objects disappeared
