Light in sky following the moons course eastbound

There is a heavenly body in the night sky , following the moon . I have been observing it for
2 hours ,from about 45°, and it is following the moon. As the moon gets higher in the night sky ,, it is keeping on constant course with the moon. I called an Observatory in the U.K. & they say it might be Jupiter , but this continues to follow the moon , keeping the Exact distance. I'm in Toro to Canada , looking up , South east in the sky
