Satin silver sphere in low level cloud

Coming home from local paper shop in car, I looked down the local golf corse and saw what appeared to be a giant satin silver sphere sitting in a low level cloud bank on the horizon. Which would have been out to sea. Maitland is approx 24km from the coast on the York Penninsula. I stopped the car and turned back for another look, but it was gone.
I have also witnessed another object similar in colour but sort of egg shaped, also in Maitland, although it was back in approx 1978 at footy practise, it seemed to be hovering about approx 500 meters to the north of the oval. About 6 kids saw the same thing, it appeared to be watching us.
I have heard of a lot of sightings in this area, one even made it on the news.
